Cilium Egress Gateway with Primary IPs instead of Floating IPs?

When using Cilium Egress Gateway it seems to be using Floating IPs and now Primary IPs. Is there a particular reason why Floating IPs is used instead of Primary IPs instead?

It should be possible to use the assignment of a Primary IP from one node to a new node to keep the same IP instead without needing to manipulate the networking part by running remote-exec provisioner actions. Or am I wrong?
