Subnet per node

Hello everyone,

Is there a good reason why each node in the cluster gets its own subnet?
I'm currently trying to integrate several clusters into an existing infrastructure with this project. However, the network size of /8 provided in this project is much too large in my opinion (it's 1/256 of the entire internet :D ).

I would like to use a /24 network per cluster. Theoretically, that should be sufficient for quite a few nodes and balancers.
Now that individual networks can be configured (existing_network_id), this shouldn't be an issue. However, I noticed that a subnet is configured for each node. The network_ipv4_cidr is broken down into 256 parts, and each node then receives an address from this pool with a hard-coded offset of +101 (I probably don't quite follow the magic).

I don't quite understand what this is all about, and why each node ultimately gets its own subnet.

What's the advantage here compared to a large network where you create a subnet for each network zone and deploy the nodes there depending on their location?

@ErikFilbert This was an issue with the v2.18.0, now fixed in v2.18.1. Now each nodepool gets it's own subnet as it was before.
