Description

@varbanv

Problem statement

Today, if a customer or our ops unintentionaly delete a cluster, they/we have no way to recover certain resources.

What is the current state, unmet need, or symptom?

  • There is no prevention mechanism to try and prevent unintended deletion
  • There in no established recovery procedure or mechanism.
  • Users asking for a cluster to be recovered.
  • No disaster recovery capabilities.

Who is affected?

  • Cluster owner
  • Kyma org
  • Customer developers

When and where does this problem occur?

  • During automation implementation.
  • People running scripts written by somebody else.
  • People just deleting custers for whatever reason.
  • Hyperscaler region outage.

Why does it matter?

There can be serious data loss or application outage without a recovery mechanism that will affect Kyma reputation.
Disaster recovery is a standard capability requested by customers.
