I think that is a good idea, as the 'youngest' branch in this repository is now 3 years old, and requires an outdated node.js version. I honestly doubt if the branches in this repository would install well on newer versions of Raspian OS, given the many updates to packages etc. we needed to do throughout the years. As a 'hint' to other users I have opened a PR with a huge list of improvements. But that is the best I can do.
@laberning has these permission.
There is essentially one version really relevant: This is the stable version where at least 250K of rowing has been conducted to make sure it is stable. Yeah, we explained this one in our readme. This version is maintained for the original Zero_W for a grace period. We needed to abandon this platform as a lot of the required packages had become unavailable for newer versions of Raspian.
Yeah, it was renamed to 'main' as the V1Beta_updates was initially proposed as a PR. But after two years of waiting for acceptance, we decided to move on in our own branch. Keeping the name V1Beta_updates didn't sound that future proof under that approach. In a couple of weeks these should have merged into 'main'. Just to clarify:

EDIT: ANSWERED
There is a maintained fork of this project at https://github.com/JaapvanEkris/openrowingmonitor
Various threads mention different branches, pull requests, betas, and branches. This was initially confusing to me.
If you, like me, want to setup a rowing machine, go to https://github.com/JaapvanEkris/openrowingmonitor and use the installation instructions from the README. Use the main branch.
Google directed me to this repository, and it was not immediately clear that I should actually be using the fork. Is there an easy way to make this clearer to other people like me who find this repository?
Ideas
I'm guessing the problem is that nobody has permission to pin anything on this github?
Additionally, I see mention of multiple versions available from multiple locations -
main
,beta
, beta_update`. Of the following branches and installation guides, which should be used? I realize it is redundant to link all of them -- some are from the same place -- but I think it is helpful to highlight potential sources of confusion.Should I focus on JaapnvanEkris
main
branch and ignore everything else? Does the answer change depending on the rowing machine or raspberry pie I want to use?v1beta_updates
- mentioned here, is it identical toJaapvanEkris
