maybe this is more a question that an issue, but... what do you use as the "orig" tarball?

I used what is is svn trunk and it doesn't work, since the Makefile has no install target.

I would have looked at the debian source package myself, but I don't know where it is hosted.

Ok, I found this https://github.com/LabExperimental-SIUA/ilt/wiki/Manual-de-empaquetamiento-de-chdkptp which explains many things.
Especially, you are using a patched tarball as the orig tarball, which is contradictory.

Commit b00709d (in my master branch) fixes this, so if you merge that (which I suggest) you can now use the real svn checkout as the orig tarball.
