I'm attempting to get a general understanding reading the API docs. However, I noticed many things are missing. Including

load_summarize_chain and langchain.chains.summarize in general.

I'm wondering, will these be added to the API docs. Is the current best way to learn about langchain to read through the actual code?

I haven't done extensive reading yet as I typically prefer to read API docs and have found these incomplete for even basic tasks.

I understand a person can sift through countless other resources, but API docs are generally a single place to find ideal information.

The class and methods seem to work as expected.

The reason I wrote the question and answer is because I was wondering if there is a better way for me to know what arguments to pass in to these methods.

Right now, I'm tasked with learning AI / ML in general, and to get a better understanding of the tools surrounding these technologies.

I've created my own set of use cases to accomplish using LLMs. One of these was summarization and to get an understanding of different methods of "extending" context windows.

I have read through a number of different examples and white papers on the topic. I decided to see how easy it would be to implement. It was pretty easy! But I then decided I wanted to understand what arguments could be passed in to the load_summarize_chain method, and I had to read through the actual code.

I've noticed, much material around LLMs, AI and ML in general is fairly disparate and there are many information gaps.

At this point, regarding this post, I am wondering:

Is using the API Docs the best way to learn more about langchain, the methods exposed by the library, type definitions and expected method argument types, or is there a different way to go about learning this.
