Pass state to tools

Hi, is it possible to pass state as a variable to tools within ToolNode? Or is the only way to create a custom ToolNode?

# example tool with state as one of the input
@Tool
def exampleTool(state):
  ...

# initialization for ToolNode
tools = [exampleTool]
tool_node = ToolNode(tools)

Great question! It currently requires a custom tool node, but we are looking into making some updates to the tool node that would permit this

hello @hinthornw would you please provide an example of this custom toolnode? I did the same thing above but can't pass the state from the node to the tools.
builder = StateGraph(State) builder.add_node("node_name", create_tool_node_with_fallback(list_of_tools))

when one of the tools in the list_of_tools is called, the state variables from the graph aren't passed to the tool.
