VerificationController does not employ guard method

Hello, I have been trying to use VerificationController for a different guard but i have had to override most of the functions from the Illuminate\Foundation\Auth\VerifiesEmails Trait compared to other Auth controllers that only requires overriding the guard() method.

Is there a better implementation for this or shall we wait for an update ?
