Why paginate and simplePaginate have different limits in query?

Simple paginate limit 5

   "select * from `products` order by `created_at` desc limit 6 offset 524290"


    // Next we will set the limit and offset for this query so that when we get the

    $this->skip(($page - 1) * $perPage)->take($perPage + 1); 

Paginate limit 5

    "select count(*) as aggregate from `products`",
    "select * from `products` order by `created_at` desc limit 5 offset 524290"

    public function forPage($page, $perPage = 15)
    {
        return $this->offset(($page - 1) * $perPage)->limit($perPage);

Both result contain the same rows but why the 6 from the sql?
