Publishing the extension to open-vsx would make it available for users of VSCodium and other VS Code forks, which do not use the official Microsoft Marketplace.

Context

Unfortunately, as Microsoft prohibits usages of the Microsoft marketplace by any other products or redistribution of .vsix files from it, in order to use VS Code extensions in non-Microsoft products, we kindly ask that you take ownership of the VS Code extension namespace in Open VSX and publish this extension on Open VSX.

What is Open VSX? Why does it exist?

Open VSX is a vendor neutral alternative to the MS marketplace used by most other derivatives of VS Code like VSCodium, Gitpod, OpenVSCode, Theia-based IDEs, and so on.

How can you publish to Open VSX?

The docs to publish an extension can be found here. This process is straightforward and shouldn't take too long. Essentially, you need an authentication token and to execute the ovsx publish command to publish your extension. There's also a doc explaining the whole process with an example GitHub Action workflow.

For now, you can download the .vsix extension from https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=laravel.vscode-laravel (Version History tab) and install manually (open Extensions area, click the 3 dots menu, click Install from VSIX). Note: it won't auto update.

As I can see, it's not possible to download .vsix files anymore on the marketplace.
Would like to see this extension published to Open VSX..

The download option is available as of VS Code release 1.96, and is only available for extensions that are not installed yet.

To download an extension, search for it in the Extensions view, right-click on an extension from the results, and select Download VSIX.

Once downloaded, rename the file by adding .vsix extension.

You guys can also compile the .vsix on windows. Some changes:
create a precheck.ps1 file with these content:

Cursor switched to OpenVSX now it seems, and there is only old version of laravel extention available. So would be nice with some official support to have access to latest version.

I've created this PR in the hope this is how we can get this extension to auto-publish to open-vsx.
