Exclude Firefox from being themed

Prerequisites

• I performed a cursory search of the issue tracker to avoid opening a duplicate issue.

Checklist to make sure the issue is not on your end

• I have made sure that I do not have multiple versions of the theme installed. Only one version should be installed in either ~/.local/share/themes or /usr/share/themes or ~/.themes
• The file ~/.config/gtk-3.0/gtk.css does not exist. (If it does, backup and remove it.)
• I have logged out and in again.
• Dark theme only. I have enabled adw-gtk3-dark in gnome-tweaks AND set the appearance to dark in gnome-control-center
• The flatpak theme is installed org.gtk.Gtk3theme.adw-gtk3 and org.gtk.Gtk3theme.adw-gtk3-dark
• The app I'm having an issue with is an actual GTK3 app and is not coded using another toolkit like GTK2, GTK4, QT, etc.
• I have created a new user profile without any modifications except adw-gtk3.

Description

Hello, I have the Firefox GNOME theme installed, so Firefox already looks like a native gtk4+libadwaita app. Is it possible to exclude Firefox from being themed?

I've removed most of the color customizations as they're probably no longer needed. Some minor fixes will have to stay though.

Another theming issue is that I want my gtk3 apps to use the dark theme, but then that also prevents Firefox from using the light theme, any way to avoid that?

I can make a new issue for this, but I figure it dovetails with Firefox's ongoing internal theming efforts. Anyways, I tested the latest version of Firefox's Beta (142) because it fixes this issue when using Firefox with the default theme.

Unfortunately, the background of the close/x button disappears again when I switch to adw-gtk3 or my own custom gtk theme.

Is this fixable on your end?

It's really unfortunate that they are shipping Firefox's Libadwaita-esque modifications in an incomplete state. If I disable adw-gtk3 completely for firefox, the border thickens and the corner radius becomes incorrect, but if I keep it on, the window controls break.

I can also let them know that the window control decoration breaks with other gtk themes, but I don't know if they will be interested in fixing that problem if it doesn't affect the default GTK3 theme.

I don't think Firefox can be styled much any more. Only basic stuff like some minor colors. The title buttons are handled by the icon theme from my understanding.

This was my thought, but how does the theme change affect the window control backdrop then?
