Failed to write 'change' to '/sys/devices/virtual/block/loop2/uevent': Permission denied

I am using debian 12 bookwork as a VM on a chromebook

after using "sudo apt-get install gparted" it showed up in my apps list but did nothing when I clicked on it. when trying through the terminal, both as root and basic user, typing "sudo gparted" I got the following error message:

loop0: Failed to write 'change' to '/sys/devices/virtual/block/loop0/uevent': Permission denied

it came as a group of errors. they were loop0 through loop7 and also for vda vdb and vdc.
I am very new to all of this. So am not even sure where I should begin. thank you so much for your time.

I have got past that now. I can get gparted to open but I get the error :

Could not stat device /dev/vda - No such file or directory.

That comes up on the gparted UI when it starts to open. It also shows up in my terminal as well since that is where I open it from. Would you like me to to post it to the same link you listed above?
