Option to statically compile dependencies?

Would it be possible to add a configuration where the dependencies are statically compiled, instead of using .dll dependencies? It would be nice to be able to distribute just the picogk.dll.

I tried it but eventually failed to get it to work. OpenVDB has a lot of dependencies that are not easy to move to static linking. I know they are trying to clean up a lot of that (boost for example). So I am waiting until I try again. I did, however, succeed in manually replacing many dependencies on the Mac manually (by changing the file names in the CMake config) with the .a static libraries, so on Mac the dependencies are minimal.

If you do want to distribute your own compiled version, have a look at the installer project. It's fairly straightforward, so not a pressing problem, I think.

I looked into this problem a few years ago. Theres is a configuration of onetbb that was developed for static linking on ibm mainframes.

For boost there is a method of distributing a minimal treeshaked version of that library
