Restarting pulseaudio causes the program to use 100% CPU

The command I used was systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse. Surely we can do better.

Just so I understand - you had an Allegro program running and then separately you restarted pulseaudio and that caused the Allegro program to jump to 100% CPU?

That's right. I haven't looked to closely just yet at what's happening. Here's the perf report though:
