rodio jack backend – how to? #969

Hey!

I managed to build librespot with rodio but I cannot use it with jack.

That's the output. librespot_playback::audio_backend::rodio] Using Rodio sink with format S16 and cpal host: ALSAthis looks wrong, hm? Is there another config I need to check?

For any report please specify the full command line you are launching with. I think you will find that you are not using the right backend (Rodio instead of Jack-Rodio).

Out of interest why don’t you just use the native Jack backend?

I have a DAC that is 48 kHz so I need to sample rate convert. Is rodiojack doing that out of the box for me?

Thanks for the tip – there was in the config another entry that did overwrite the arguments from my .service file.

Now I have a different error – no connection to the jack server.

jack is my realtime audio user.. that's why I thought it would be a good idea to use that .. no idea if that's needed or now even a problem. Shairport-sync (also run as user jack as service) worked immediately with jack.

─8167 /usr/bin/librespot --name MiCROLABS-P3 --device-type speaker --backend rodiojack --bitrate 320 --disable-audio-cache --enable-volume-normalisation --volume-ctrl linear --initial-volume 100

this was now my start command.

EDIT: Solved! When I run that command as my normal user it works... hmm hehe guess there is something fishy with my .service file – something I don't understand.

To be a bit less cryptic you need to launch with --backend rodiojack
