Is there an existing issue for this?

  • This is a bug in RetroArch frontend
  • I have searched the existing issues

Description

Pressing "random selection" button in any playlist always result in the same "randomization seed" / pattern of ROMs after restarting RetroArch.
Tested on x86_64 Linux on a few different PCs and on a SteamDeck, with Ozone and XMB UI drivers.

Expected behavior

I expect RetroArch to randomize selection differently each time after restarting.

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Open RetroArch
  2. Go to any playlist with games (in my case 500+)
  3. Press "randomize selection" a few times and take a note of whatever games came up this way
  4. Restart RetroArch
  5. Go to the same playlist
  6. Press "randomize selection" a few times and get the same exact games
