Sega CD: "Snatcher (Europe)" listed as "Snatcher (USA)" in playlists

Snatcher (Europe) is not listed correctly in the Sega CD playlist: It appears as Snatcher (USA).

I've updated databases using the online updater.

I find Snatcher in two databases:

• libretro-database/metadat/redump/Sega - Mega CD - Sega CD.dat
• libretro-database/rdb/Sega - Mega CD - Sega CD.rdb

There's two entries in each: 1 for the European release and 1 for the USA release.
If I scan both the USA and Europe releases, they show up as 2 USA entries in playlists.

Checksum verifying Snatcher (Europe), the hashes for Track 01.bin match the rdb and dat entries for Snatcher (Europe) as they should.

Could it be due to the pair having very similar Serials? When I delete or alter the serial(s) in the rdb they don't get picked up on scans.

• USA = T-95035
• Europe = T-95035-05

p.s. playlist file information lists the .cue file instead of track 01.bin?.

Hmm. RetroArch does use the embedded serial number for database matching in many cases. But since the serials are different in the database, like you said the *-05 for Europe, it seems like it's not reading or matching enough characters to get the -05? I don't know too much about it, and the exact functioning of serial scanning and matching is a mystery to me (other than the fact that it happens, contrary to popular opinion, it's not checksum in many cases).

That makes sense because it does use the serial for matching, so maybe the thing to try is reading the binary game file and verifying that the embedded serial matches what the database serial says.

I'm no expert but the possibilities that come to mind are:

1. Serial scanner isn't scanning or matching enough characters, or otherwise missing the -05
2. The game's embedded serial is wrong(?), which can be a real-life production bug, but then why would the checksums match and where did the database serial come from if it's not what's in the game. I don't know.
