Alternative to Xrite proprietary calibration software #50

I'm not totally sure this is the way to add a contribution to the database, but I'd like to mention, when you intend to color-calibrate your computer screen you generally end with a (closed) hardware coming along with (PC or mac) closed software. Being in this situation I discovered two alternatives :

  • in a terminal, the ArgyllCMS open software that is so significant that it generally already is along most of the usual distributions, or at least in their repositories
  • with a GUI, and indeed running Argyll behind this, you get DisplayCAL, that will only calibrate screens (while Argyll can also calibrate anything from printers to scanners)
So, I suggest the following entry in the table :
Xrite softwares or any Color Management software (CMS) -> ArgyllCMS, http://www.argyllcms.com (no GUI), and/or DisplayCAL, https://displaycal.net (GUI, for screen profiling only)

HTH,
Hervé
