Is there a plan for an API to be available for getting the contributor stats?

Steps to reproduce

Saw in the docs that there is no API currently.

I agree that having an API endpoint for contributor statistics would be extremely valuable—especially for integrating these metrics into automated dashboards and external tooling. Since the current documentation confirms that no such API exists, I’d like to take ownership of implementing this functionality.

My plan is to:

Scope the API requirements – identify which contributor metrics should be exposed (e.g., commits, PRs, reviews, time range filtering).

Design the endpoint – propose a REST/GraphQL structure aligned with the existing Insights architecture.

Implement backend support – add the necessary data aggregation logic and ensure performance considerations for larger repositories.

Add tests and documentation – provide examples so users can easily query contributor stats programmatically.

Please assign this issue to me, and I’ll proceed with a formal design proposal before implementation.
