The cinnamon menu and icons and text by default are hard to read in it's default setting. It would be better if they could be increased by 2 px by default.

I'm in my 30's and NOT visual impaired. But by default how it's set this so hard to read that I've to set my laptop resolution from 1920x1200 to 1680x1050 due lack of incremental scaling options. And I personalty still struggle with it's default setting on a 14'' laptop screen. Or it could be done by if the resolution is below a certrain treshold so that the icons and fonts are set higher.

Get a friendlier default wallpaper. The wallpaper is the first thing people see. The default black makes the impression that this distro has depression. I do not understand if this really is a good choice as there are many nice ones added to the distro by default. Maybe this could be reworked to something more friendlier and welcoming instead a "funeral wall"

I think default UI size was designed around 96 dpi. That is, internally a 1920x1200 screen space is assumed to be about 24" big unless set otherwise.

The 96 dpi thing has embedded into various standards and is unlikely to change https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Glossary/Device_pixel

For your case, instead of changing resolution, try "Accessibility" > Visual > Large Text.

In long term, an ideal solution will be to stop the trend of wasting screen space with excessive margin/padding (speaking to you GTK4+libadwaita), recognize that a laptop monitor is not going to increase its physical size no matter how much technology advances, and give us back a choice of compact/dense UI like what we had 20-30 years ago.
