Txt2img space nearly ceased open source development. Likely because the only limiting factor at this point is training data quality and amount. And for-pay organizations don't intend to release models packed full with premium quality training to general audience for free.
It's a soft ceiling, so to say.

At the end of November 2024, I asked the admin to answer questions, for which the moderator accused me of trolling and trying to provoke. The posts contain information about waiting for a new version of GRADIO and continuing work in the spring or summer of 2025. Let's see, maybe they will suddenly update, but @llyasviel's long silence in the topic is alarming.

It seems to me that Illyaviel simply does not participate in community discussion posts. He used to respond and help in the issues section, but has slowed down to a stop. As long as there are community developers other than him, the project will continue to be updated. Viewing his commit history, you can either say he stopped working on Forge entirely, or taking an extended break. He is currently working on his other projects, and the majority of his commits were in a short period of time. Either way, we probably have to reply on very qualified community commits.

Dead or not, it works extremely fine for what its intended, and then more. I have tried to switch to Comfy, ReForge, SdNext, etc, since Forge stopped the updates. And I have hated them all even more than before (either due to unnecessary complexities or bad speed, along with the lack of support for custom Flux Models in all of them). I reverted back to ForgeUi to benefit in all 3 areas.

We all just got used to getting a new ForgeUi update every single day, that were very very minor and started to seem pretty pointless and forced, anyway. There's nothing much going on in terms of models, etc, after Flux was added (SD 3, 3.5 etc aren't really attractive to people who use ForgeUi due to their size and licensing complications). I've just saved backup copies of current ForgrUI, just in case if it something goes wrong and I'm fine with not getting any updates if its not missing out on a lot.

I think that for the time being, Forge at its current state is fine too. When another major development in Stable Diffusion comes along, I'm sure another tool or UI will be made by someone else.

Avert your panic! Forge was out in the cold for a LOONG time before it's latest run as Illyasviel was and, no doubt is still, very very busy.
I forget how long (many months) but it was assumed he was done with it - hence the appearance of ReForge et al - but, eventually, he did return and added Flux support. Nice. It works well as is so is likely not a high priority.
As above, he doesn't seem to engage with discussions much so don't be offended if there is no response. I imagine he may have even swtiched off notifications.

I agree Forge is by far one of the best WebUIs out there! IIIyaviel does his best, and gets a lot of heat from a lot of people. We should be thankful he made this program for free unlike other platforms. On top of that we get other cool things.

So no, it isn't dead, just running on a different cadence now, and we probably have new nicer things to look forward from him, we just need to be patient, and appreciate what we have.

And the Offline LoRA patching for Flux could probably be improved.
Also, Memory Management seems to not properly handle VRAM consumption for Flux's TAESD preview.

I assume Illyaviel lost interest after the drama with ComfyUI.
PLEASE DO NOT START DRAMA AGAIN!!! These are only links so you can get an understanding of why Illyaviel "left" the project.
It's not "dead" so to say, but the most valuable person simply did not want to continue, I assume because interest was to create code, not engage in semantics and bs drama, and at least I understand/respect that.
It's sad, but it is what it is.

Yes, that was when it all started.
Illyasviel kept updating the repo up until late 2024 and then "left". And since then, only minor changes has been made, no new implementations, hence "it's not dead".
But I think it is safe to assume, unless someone with as much knowledge picks up the torch, no new things will be implemented again.
