Create and add generalized type identifier metadata to indirect calls, and to functions which are potential indirect call targets. The functions carry the !type metadata. The indirect callsites carry a list of !type metadata values under !callee_type metadata. RFC: https://discourse.llvm.org/t/rfc-call-graph-information-from-clang-llvm-for-c-c/88255

The "IgnoreCallbackUses" here refers to the callback attribute:
https://clang.llvm.org/docs/AttributeReference.html#callback
As part of my LLVM change (https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/main/llvm/lib/CodeGen/AsmPrinter/AsmPrinter.cpp#L1702), I added a test that verifies hasAddressTaken call handles callback functions correctly https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/blob/main/llvm/test/CodeGen/X86/call-graph-section-addrtaken.ll

Added a new test case to cover the hasAddressTaken case. This test also covers callback function handling.

Largely I think this is in pretty decent shape. Tests seem much improved, and the patch is a lot more focused IMO. Please check that @arsenm before landing, since IIRC he had a concern w/ the use of hasAddressTaken()
.
@arsenm -- can you please take a look? |
I am planning to land this PR by tomorrow. Please let me know if there are any objections. |
Create and add generalized type identifier metadata to indirect calls,
and to functions which are potential indirect call targets.
The functions carry the !type metadata. The indirect callsites carry a
list of !type metadata values under !callee_type metadata.
