Emiting User ID in laminar traces

I am using CopilotKit-Langgraph for an agent. I am using Laminar(python) for automatic tracing through Laminar.initialize.
Is there a way for me to edit the automatic traces emited to include userId programmatically?

Hey @VishnuNP thanks for opening the issue. Yes, there is. It should be a matter of calling Laminar.set_trace_user_id() anywhere within an observed function. Refer to https://docs.lmnr.ai/tracing/structure/user-id for more info.

I see that this function works well with regards to explicit spans declared programmatically - the usage guideline tells me to use it in context of an active span.

My traces are part of laminar's automatic tracing support with LangGraph. I dont explicitly start any span myself, it just gets picked up with its native integration. As a result this usage doesnt work.
Is there a way to insert userID (and hopefully other metadata) to this automatic traces?

@VishnuNP I see. The recommended way to go about this is to @observe the function before the entry point to your langgraph.

For example:

@observe()
def run_langgraph():
    Laminar.set_trace_user_id("user_123")
    graph.run()
