We've talked about 3 candidates to replace the Refresh mission once it's complete. I'll add info to this at intervals

X Search (includes AI)

Most of this work has been done by some councils. We would bring all of the most useful parts together, make them easy to install and provide easy to follow docs

• several of our councils have switched to Solr, should we be offering this as standard or more easily?
• first go could be tuning of https://github.com/localgovdrupal/localgov_search_solr, and add modules such as https://www.drupal.org/project/solr_best_bets
• explain why it could be better for a council
• expand docs at https://docs.localgovdrupal.org/devs/features/search.html#search-api-solr
• polishing, tuning, building on the councils who are using this already

AI for citizens

• add AI functions to Drupal search
• use chatbot to complete forms
• explore possible upstream work and discuss

LGR

Councils are merging/ closing in 2027 and 2028. New sites will be created, old ones will remain until content can be migrated, citizens need help to navigate them

• one search and results page to cover all sites (which could include non LGD sites), so how do we crawl/ index these sites? Nutch has been used by some councils. Analytics on top search keywords and ideally top clicks

• postcode/ location lookup for citizens, show them info related to only their area

• old sites need to adopt new branding easily. Two ideas: 1) a page to show all the styles 2) is there a way of LGD powered sites inheriting from others 3) look at common application providers and provide guidance

• content teams may need help migrating/ closing sites. Can we provide migration scripts for common systems?

AI for content designers

• content quality (eg test against style guide https://www.gov.uk/guidance/style-guide/a-to-z, test for accessibility, point out baffling sentences)
• LLM and what else?
• David's AI checking work
• manage media (eg duplicates)
• check google search console for number of unindexed pages. May need to close off AI to faceted search, for example
• provide simple analysis of log files: what ai bots are logging what pages?
