Why the two date elements

Why is where the Date of Birth element separate from the Date element?

The DateList element supplied by Webform itself can largely be configured to do the GDS style input, which adds simplicity. But maybe for defaulting, overriding messages, and injecting CSS this module and element are worth while. Although the complexity is impressive. However to then have two versions, when the date element should be configurable enough to do the Date of Birth?

I might well have missed something that can't be overriden, though we maybe could make it so?
