hello! i hope you find the repo and additional documentation useful. to manually setup the configurations i would suggest beginning with a copy of https://github.com/edx/configuration/blob/master/playbooks/sample_vars/server_vars.yml <https://github.com/edx/configuration/blob/master/playbooks/sample_vars/server_vars.yml> you’ll probably want a subset of these variables as a starting point, including: - platform name and logo variables - SMTP parameters, so that your server can send email under your domain - MySQL and MongoDB server variables, so that you can set these up as standalone services which will greatly simplify your devops procedures in the future. i would encourage you to start with a minimal set of parameters, and then add categories of parameters to your server-vars.yml file in iterations. the challenge with these parameters is that bad values (and keep in mind that its often challenging to know what “bad” means) can crash your Open edX instance, and reading the logs afterwards is not always helpful. best regards, Lawrence McDaniel
