Hey folks,
I’ve got a Quadlock white-label version of what I think is the Carlinkit 3.0. I say “think” because I’m new to this kind of thing and just going off what I’ve read online. The web interface looks like the 2020 version used by Carlinkit 2.0/3.0 units, and I’m assuming the hardware is pretty much the same too.
Long story short, the device won’t perform an OTA update — it’s stuck on the old firmware from before the interface got upgraded. It doesn’t really work properly in my car, so at this point, it’s basically a fancy brick I can mess around with.
Has anyone here had success updating this version of the device using the USB method? I’ve tried it by plugging in a USB with the .img file, but all I get is a solid red light on the unit and no activity from the USB itself (no indicator light or anything). Feels like it’s not even attempting to read the drive.
Since both OTA and USB update methods are failing for me, I’m wondering — what else can I try?
I’ve seen some people mention rooting the device — is that done through exploiting the web interface? And if so, would I be able to flash new firmware manually once I have root access?
Or is it worth trying to flash the BIOS directly?
Apologies if this isn’t the right place for these kinds of questions. Just feeling a bit stuck and could use some advice. Cheers!
I have attached images of my firmware for refrence:
