Most servers will probably be run locally or have a small player base (under 200 players), so it makes sense to focus development around that larger group of users.

That’s a fair point. From what I’ve seen, even servers with under 200 players tend to use SQL for player data, and flat file storage isn’t commonly used on publicly hosted servers anymore.

I do agree that it makes sense to default to JsonGameSerializer to make Luna easier to run out-of-the-box. This can be changed for release.
