The character who rolled into Bartre's slot is level 10 promoted, had the Bartre-specific start-of-chapter dialogue about fighting in the Arena, but the Karla-slot character does not appear in Chapter 31x.

Is the game checking for a level 5-or-higher promoted unit, or a level 5+ Warrior?

Other character-specific recruitment events (Priscilla -> Raven, etc) refer to the character slot, not actual character. (Thus, whoever rolled into the Priscilla slot would be the character needed to recruit the character who rolled Raven's slot.)

Truth be told, I've never tested this personally, but it would not surprise me if it checked the character's class as well as the level. I'll look into it. Thanks for reporting!
