Why is the lnumfunc taking so much space?

Is there a way to customize the space needed by the lnumfunc segment when the file isn't too big? It seems it is taking a minimum of 4 characters even though my file has 20 lines...

Setting 'numberwidth' should work.

It did work but I have a related question. How do I make so that the other segments always reserve the space they're gonna take if they're going to show something? The flickering is bothering me a lot and the numberwidth is impacting only the lnumfunc segment.

Not sure what you mean but auto = false should help with automatic resizing of sign segments.
