Kerning

I realised Cantarell has no kerning yet. Any plans on adding it in the near future?

My plan for the Greek extension during GSoC 2018 was to implement it there. Normally, for reasons of consistency (and efficiency), I would copy kerning values from Latin/Cyrillic classes. To develop it from scratch would be a lot of extra work and unnecessary duplication if somebody has already been working on it.

Polytonic relies on it more heavily but it will only be used rarely, if at all. Monotonic will definitely need some, especially /iota- and uppercase-diacritics (p. 7/8 on my latest test PDF).

There is no kerning, no one to my knowledge is working on it and I personally have no time to do it in the near future... My suggestion would be to make class-based kerning solely for for Greek right now and I'll worry about it later... was thinking of off-shoring this to iKern or something.

Thanks, I’ll include some basic kerning just for the Greek then.

There a bunch of reasons not to iKern especially as they relate to Variable fonts. I suggest that limited manual kerning be done in the masters so that they generate both VF and conventional cones.
