ESP8266 support #24

Hello,
is there a chance to get it working with 'the old' ESP8266 again?
As many (commercial) devices still come with an ESP8266 or ESP8285 SensESP 2.0 (ReactESP) would be very desirable even for the 'old' ESPs.
Sonoff 4CH Pro R3 would be such an example. The device comes very handy if used as an of the shelf product with SensESP.
Is there a deal breaker to have a version for ESP8266/ESP8285?
