Herschel T MT Mains thermostat for IR Panels - help with submitting a working configuration

Hi,
I built an interface for the main Herschel T MT thermostat that drives their IR Panels.
It's all fully tested and working.

I'm having no luck generating the appropriate pull request (I can store code in GIT for my own projects but not contributed to another one before).

Request - can someone help me work out (or just submit) the interface to the core Tuya local project please?
I did try an issue at one point requesting same - but it was bounced and closed for some reason.

Do I just need to add my herschel_t_mt_thermostat.yaml file to the appropriate main /custom_components_tuya_local/devices folder on GIT?

Start by cloning this repository, then check out your version of the repository (or use the GitHub web interface to upload your changes). Put your yaml file into the custom_components/tuya_local/devices directory, and commit a change adding that file.
Push the change to your GitHub repository, and you should get a link to create the PR in the message returned by the server, or you can go to the web interface for your cloned repository, and there should be a link there to submit a PR.

If you are going to be a frequent contributor, it is best to create a branch to make your changes in, so your main branch is kept clean for easy update from this repository, and you can avoid conflicts when your changes get rebased when the PR is accepted. For a one off, or infrequent contribution, you can make the changes on the main branch, and delete your copy of the repository after the PR is merged.

Thanks for the response - I suspect only this file (until I find another unsupported device) in my house.

Local respository - check
Check out/in ? - can I just add my file to the local repository and commit that back to GIT? - the only diff will be my config file.

That sounds easlier for one file - I couldn't see how to clone into my online repository though - it seemed to create a local copy for me.

So you should have https://github.com/RichardL64/tuya_local after that first step, to use the Web UI, browse the code into the devices directory and use the "Add file" button in top right. That will automatically make a commit for you.

ok - I think I've done it :)
The thing that was throwing me is all searches on 'cloning' are talking about taking a local copy using terminal etc - which is overkill for my use-case here. (I can see absolutely that would make sense for the majority of dev scenarios)

Looks like the answer was to fork the original repository into my web version, add the file there, and then I could generate the pull request. If I got it right of course.
