Categories when searching for maps #77

It might help to facilitate easier searching and better use of the search functions if a search or browse page could be broken down by categories (date ranges, author name, type of map, etc.), kind of like how a Google Image search allows for filtering by color, image size, etc.
From the usability studies thus far, it has become apparent that it is important for users to be able to easily access a map that is relevant to them. At the same time, the search function provides very little to help users (even things like multilingual searching and searching via tags and annotations is not apparent to an average user).
