For the structuralization and description of metadata associated with individual mappings or crosswalks, it is advisable to employ standard and FAIR vocabularies. This practice facilitates the ability of others, whether humans or machines, to effectively search for, access, and reuse the used vocabularies. Using standard and FAIR vocabularies contributes to a more systematic and interoperable approach.
SSSOM metadata is aligned with several existing “standards” and almost FAIR vocabularies and ontologies, such as Dublin Core, PAV, SemaPV, ….However, the metadata schema to describe mapping sets could be aligned on another standard model such as DCAT as they could be considered as a collection of mappings.
