plain-javascript example works in dev mode, but not in build

I'm trying to follow the guide for the plain-javascript example, the project is working fine if done through npm run tauri dev but when building the project npm run tauri build, then installing it in the same machine I did the npm run tauri dev on, it does not launch at all, I have not changed anything in cargo.toml, so it should be running on RustPython. Also, is it possible to use pyinstaller to bundle the python code as an exe so the user does not need to install python on his machine?

Thx I will check the example and ping back after fixing it.
I think rustpython doesn't need python to be installed, but I haven't tested that yet. Probably need to test this on some VM build which never had python installed. PyoO3 recommends to use PyOxidizer to ship python https://pyo3.rs/main/building-and-distribution.html, but I didn't had any time yet to get that running.

So... This looks like it could be some strange "windows-only" issue.
It is working fine on MacOS. And there is actual no output on windows why it might not work.

I just tried to debug it a bit more on windows. To do that, I added some debug code and removed the line in src_tauri/src/main.rs that hides the console

#![cfg_attr(not(debug_assertions), windows_subsystem = "windows")]

After removing that line, the app magically worked and started fine. Unfortunately, there are also some big letters "DO NOT REMOVE". I'm not sure if there are additional implications. Otherwise, it could be a workaround. Unfortunately, I have no idea yet how to debug that issue further more. I also tried npm run tauri build --debug but it also didn't show me anything...
I probably need additional time to resolve this. Not sure yet if this is a general tauri 2.0 issue, if it is due to the example or due to the plugin itself.

A bit late, but there is an update:

This is most likely due to non-UTF8 characters in an error message.

I created an issue in RustPython to disable stdio.
RustPython/RustPython#5690

Still, I need to test locally if this solved the issue. When this is fixed in RustPython, it should hopefully work fine on windows.
I haven't checked yet if PyO3 has the same issue.
