System wide search feature like Pixel Search/Spotlight Search/GNOME Overview

The search feature could be extended by adding feature to search for files, app activities, etc.
Also if it could remember what app/result I selected for a search term, I would be neat. I like this behavior of GNOME overview as it makes me click less. I believe this could be implemented here, somehow.

I would like to come back and help with this issue later.
