update metadata or use personal metadata

Hi,

I don't really find easy information about either updating the metadata or use my own custom meta data file to fetch language servers.

How can I do this easily, for instance the latest version of jsonlint installed is 1.6.3 and on their git the latest version is 1.9.
also I'm using linux on arm64 and sometimes I have to compile my own language servers (clangd).

it would be great to just pass a config that gives these information
