*.mov files are not visible by Google photos

Hi Everyone, so i followed the steps, and i was able to attach my 64GB FAT32 formatted USB drive to my OG google pixel,
after mounting my USB, i transferred all my photos and videos to the /the_binding folder, but google photos was only able to see the photos, but not the Videos (*.mov format)

Are the .mov files visible in other apps, like VLC or a file explorer?

@Subedir when a FAT32 drive is remounted, the files will be available to apps in 2 different locations.

1. /mnt/media_rw/2IDK-11F4/ (normal external storage location)
2. /sdcard/the_binding/ (the remounted location in internal storage)

Google Photos always ignores external storage, so we remounted it to the internal storage. Are you sure VLC & other apps were reading from location 2?

In any case, force stopping & restarting Google Photos is the best first step to fixing these kinds of issues.

when using a Fat32 driver, you mentioned the 2 locations,
should i use the external location when mounting IE ./remount /sdcard/the_binding/?

The /mnt/media_rw/2IDK-11F4/ location always works for FAT32 drives. It is stock android behavior.

The /sdcard/the_binding/ location only works if the remounting was successful. You should use this location for accessing the drive to make sure everything worked correctly. Try opening a video from this path in the VLC app after following the mounting instructions.

The contents of files in the /mnt/media_rw/2IDK-11F4/the_binding & /sdcard/the_binding/ directories should be identical, though they will appear to have different owner/group IDs if you check the metadata from the terminal.

Also iirc /storage/emulated/0/the_binding/ is the same as /sdcard/the_binding, just 2 alternative paths that apps can use to access the internal storage.

ya the Mov files are visible by VLC and file explorer, and they can be played correctly by VLC as well

initially i was trying on a USB connect via a USB C HUB to the OG google pixel,
i also just recently tried with a NVME enclosure USBC to USBC, and even this only shows the photos on google photos.
the *.mov files are visible thru VLC, but not thru google photots

Hi Vivek, sorry for the wall of text lol,
but after 3 attempts of ./remount_vfat.sh, the *.mov files were finally visible to google photos.

i wonder if there is a bug where if you have *.jpg and *.mov, then only *.jpg is visible, then once google photo has backed up the *.jpg and deleted from the drive, then doing a ./remount_vfat.sh with only the *.mov files, it appears in google photos?
