Build failed on Apple Silicon Chips

After listening to the compression episode on your podcast, I was excited to try out the zindex tool. Unfortunately, my attempt to build on my Mac with an Apple chip was met with an error message.

Any plan for take an overhaul for Apple chips?

Hi! No plans currently; this seems to be our usage of the (very old) Catch test harness. Would be nice to replace all the building with something more modern (Catch2 via some modern CMakery). Thanks for the ping, might be something I can take a look at more generally that might just fix it for apple silicon.
