This is latest nvidia drivers on live ubuntu-bionic with gdm3 as display manager with full capacity on the fly switching intel/nvidia .

Now the nvidia card can be switched off !

  so, this is the hill I never climb in my long life,since gdm is reputed difficult to make it work with nvidia every time you are on intel integrated graphic card the nvidia gpu is switched off !

The price to pay is

   a the kernel power management set to off on boot so as to enable bbswitch to operate fully (big conflict)

   b the prime_socket source is heavily modified since bbswitch could not power-off thru socket cmd ; this allows simplification for the prime-select !
