Retention with S3 doesn't work

I have configured the following schedule:

  rocketchatdb-hour.yml: |-
    scheduler:
      cron: "0 */1 * * *"
      retention: 168
      timeout: 60

But as I have seen, the retention feature doesn't work, at least there are lots of old backups:

mc ls rocketchat/rocketchat-backups | wc -l
27491

Is there any other setting or is this a bug?

Hi,

I think it is intentional as the mc is hard coded to use cp and not mirror (or the sync option for other tools)
Perhaps an option could be added to allow that

Update: retention works on mgob's own storage, but not on S3. In fact, I'd expect that backups are ONLY stored on S3 when I configure it to use it and NOT locally, at least not permanently.

As I now understand, my expectations don't match the actual implementation. From my point of view mgog shall delete old backups on S3 when they are outside the retention window. Not just blindly copy every backup to S3.
