Opening a new tab using keyboard shortcut does not respect container setting

I have containers assigned to all of my panels. When I use the keyboard shortcut (CMD + T on Mac) to open a new tab within the panel, it does open within the assigned container. (It opens with no container.) Is there a way to solve this? Thx!

Yes, by configuring and using a custom keyboard shortcut in Sidebery instead of using Firefox's default shortcut.

Settings > Keybindings > Open a new tab
