Hi,
I would like to propose a new feature that I believe would be a groundbreaking improvement for users who manage a large number of tabs.
What problem does this feature solve?
Currently, the search function in Sidebery is excellent for quickly finding tabs. However, after typing a query and clicking on one of the filtered tabs, the search resets, and the list returns to the full view. If I want to work with several tabs from this filtered group, I have to re-enter the same search query each time. This makes it difficult to work with a temporary subset of tabs.
What is the proposed solution?
I suggest adding an option to “pin” or “lock” the search results. It would work as follows:
1. The user enters a phrase into the search field.
2. A small icon (e.g., a pin or a lock) appears next to the search field.
3. After clicking this icon, the search filter becomes “locked.”
4. From this point on, the user can freely click and switch between the tabs from the filtered list, and the view remains narrowed down to only those results.
5. The search remains active until the user manually clears it or unlocks it by clicking the icon again.
Why do I think this is a game-changing feature?
This functionality would allow for the creation of “dynamic contexts” or “working groups” on the fly. Imagine working on a project with “Project-Alpha” in its name. I type this phrase, pin the search, and suddenly Sidebery shows me only the tabs I need at that moment. This would radically improve focus and workflow efficiency without the need to manually group tabs or create separate panels.
Thank you for your hard work on this fantastic extension, and I hope you will consider my proposal.
