synchronise configuration to other browsers

I don't see any mention of this functionality in the project readme, so just to check: is there any way to have my Hackertab config synced to other browsers?

if not, would it be possible to add support for this? perhaps using something like a secret GitHub Gist for storage?

Hi @ZaLiTHkA, yes, the requested feature is on the roadmap and should be available in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, I’d love to understand your use case better. Do you use multiple browsers on the same computer, or are you working across different computers with multiple browsers?

hey @medyo, apologies for the delay, I didn't see your message yesterday.. that is good news indeed though, thank you. just to check, is that roadmap publicly accessible? not sure if I'm just not looking in the right place, but I don't see any links to it on the website or repo readme...

as for my use case: I have Brave browser on Linux, macOS, and Windows with my personal Google account, along with Chrome on macOS with a second Google account for work. optimally, I would love to have the same "new tab experience" across all of them.

not necessarily, but that would depend on where you were planning to store this synced config.. for example, if you opted for a GitHub gist for storage with a personal access token for the extension, this would allow Hackertab to sync it's own config data irrespective of the browser or any web service logins.

nope, I use separate accounts for work and personal things.. including GitHub, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc.

I think it makes more sense to keep the config on the Hackertab server. Using Gists could be tricky, users might accidentally mess them up or add unwanted values. Also, storing Gist access tokens on the client side isn’t very secure.

I’ll handle this on the Hackertab server since authentication is already set up, just a few endpoints will do the job.
