Usage direction

Great plugin - just not sure if I'm using it right - I downloaded a whole theme, then added the folders (assets/snippets/templates/layout) to the Textmate Project using 'Add Existing Files'.

I have a couple of questions - one am I doing it right downloading the theme and then adding the files to the project or should I be seeing them appear automatically?

Secondly, if I need a new file - asset/snippet etc - do I create this on Shopify or via Textmate and upload it? In this thread - if I create it on Shopify, how do I download ONE new file as opposed to the whole theme?

Sorry for the newb questions but i couldnt find any other instructions/resources. The Shopify thread directed everyone here : )

1. Basically, you are doing it a bit wrong - no need to do Add Existing Files

Have you seen the readme? https://github.com/meeech/shopify.tmbundle/blob/master/readme.markdown ?

Follow the instructions in the Usage section.
Let me know what I can clarify from that part. This is assuming you already have an API key / Password.
Updating the wiki/ making a full walkthru video in on the list :)

2. re: new files.
   You can create them locally and upload them via textmate. If you do create it on the shopify site first, you could do one of the following:

• yes, download the entire new theme

or

create the same asset locally, and then use the bundle to update that file from Shopify.

The only exception is the new 'Pages' feature - this doesn't support making new Pages locally.

I hadn't seen that - I followed this: http://wiki.shopify.com/Shopify_Textmate_Bundle - the bundle works so well that I figured I was doing it wrong and having just watched your video - yep, much simpler.

The part that wasn't clear to me and where I must have gone wrong was 'create a new file inside of the folder' - I guess its second nature to others but to me I wasn't sure whether to create a file or project! so I created a blank file and it didn't work so then created a project and went from there - so that could be easily clarified. Re-reading the instructions on the Shopify wiki, it is more obvious - it was late when I set this up ; )

I added my config via Textmate Preferences as per the Shopify wiki, not 'Bundles > Shopify > Config > New Config' as per the readme you just gave me. Is the wiki out of date?

The problem with how I did it was that it DID download everything but nothing was added to the project drawer so I added them manually.

It IS working however but I guess I just went the long way around it…

Another thing - last night I was getting the odd unable to upload error others have mentioned - but on ONE file only - a snippet I use for the document head. But, this morning it seems to work fine…

re: error last night -sometimes that just happens. not sure why - could be a glitch on shopify end - don't always get very meaningful messages from shopify API, so hard to say.

Gonna leave this ticket open for now, will close it when i have a better video online :)

Ah OK, maybe I didnt do it wrong then lol.
