tag links at the bottom of the page are broken

The auto generate links for tags at the bottom of the page are broken links. Should these go somewhere automatically, or am I missing a configuration?

Seems like the default _tags directory gets created with a toc, but nothing else is in that directory

I believe this is isolated to markdown files.

Using the MyST (Markdown) syntax

```{tags} tag1, tag2
```

Creates links on the target page, but these are broken and don't go anywhere. Furthermore, _tags does not get populated.

Using the rST syntax in a .rst file, succeeds. The links work and the _tags directory get populated correctly
