🐞 [Bug]: App stuck in "connecting" no way to cancel, even after app closure

What did you do?

Open app and successfully connect to device. Walk out of range, lose connnection to device.
Try to connect to different device by swiping away to cancel "connecting". Cant swipe left to cancel connecting.

Force restart app, still stuck in connecting.

Expected Behavior

Should be able to stop connecting by either swiping left, or preferably a button.
App should go back to homescreen and show available devices after disconnecting or force resetting app.

Current Behavior

Device stuck in "connecting". Can't swipe left to cancel. Force closing app, just opens again into "connecting"

I'm also having this issue with this latest update. I'm building out a mesh network here trying to connect between like 10 different nodes and this is really screwing me up. We need to be able to long press on the word connecting and hit cancel or something like that.

This also happens when you mistakenly attempt to connect to a device that's already connected via the JSON interface to Home Assistant. I had to delete the application and re-install to recover functionality.

It would be nice to have a local blacklist function that moves nodes you don't want to ever connect to out of your list or into a submenu of "known but do not" nodes.

Workaround: Close the app. Turn off Bluetooth. Reopen the app. It will no longer be stuck in “Connecting” mode. Turn on Bluetooth. You will see a list of any nearby nodes and can reconnect.

Alas this does not work for me. It immediately gets stuck in "Connecting" again as soon as I enable Bluetooth. I really need a way to just stop any auto connection behavior. Previously requested in #1347, though unlike before it's stuck trying to connect to a node that is within range, but inexplicably cannot connect.

Getting the same thing with serial on MacOS. Application tries connecting either as soon as I open it (if it's connected via USB), or as soon as I connect the USB cable.

Same here, building a network and endlessly stuck in “connecting” to a node that’s close enough to be seen but not close enough to establish connection. Glad to find this bug report, although I would have classified this as a feature request rather than a bug. Hoping for a cancel connection button or similar solution. Thanks devs.

I hit this issue. I haven't looked at any code but perhaps can add some observations that will aid in troubleshooting.

I can confirm that opening the app then toggling Bluetooth works to reconnect but it must be done every time the app is re-opened once you get into this state.

The app is definitely holding on to some weird state when this happens. I reset the app settings but it didn't help.

What finally worked to get me out of this broken state was connecting to a different node which seemed to have cleared all the state from the original node. Once I did that I was able to connect back to the original node with no trouble.
