Messages appended with gibberish after the fact.

Describe the bug
When opening up a conversation and reading back the old messages, some messages get random gibberish at the end of the message.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Receive some messages in a chat/channel
2. Confirm they are "clean"
3. Reboot the device a couple of times, or just wait a while
4. Go back and check the messages. Some have random characters appended.

Expected behavior
No random characters at the end of messages

I can confirm the bug, same behavior also in version 2.7.8.
