interpolation methods

Hi there,

I was intrigued by this section of the documentation about "nearest neighbor" vs "weighted average":

however I could not figure out how it works. Just a few questions about this:

1. It says that the default is just taking data from the closest station to a given point. What if the closest station doesn't provide data for a parameter I need. Will it get data for that parameter from a different station, or choose a different station for everything?
2. Does it switch to weighted average automatically at some point? Does that happen if there are no nearby stations and if so, starting from what distance?
3. How do I find out which method ("nearest neighbor" or "weighted average") and which weather station(s) is (are) used station is used?
4. Is there a way to force a weighted average? Could I somehow tell it to take the 5 closest stations and interpolate between them?
